Happening in Qatar: March 2020.

Here are some events to keep you busy in Qatar, in the month of March 2020.

FAMILY FUN

Whiskers & Purrs Community Cat Show

When & Where: Mar 7 (1pm-6pm), Tennis Courts @ The Pearl.

Fees: FREE!

About: a great family event dedicated to kitties! Apart from the show, there will be plenty of activities for kids to enjoy (bouncy castle, face painting etc.). Government vet mobile clinic will be there as well, providing free microchips & vaccinations for cats and dogs! (Subject to prior booking). Animal rescue groups’ representatives will be present too, in case you feel like adopting a furry friend. 🙂

African Comedy Festival

When & Where: Mar 6 (4pm), Al Jewan Hall, Dana Club, Westbay.

Fees: QAR 75 – QAR 400

About: this event will consist of stand-up comedy, staged comedy acts by comedians from Nigeria, Kenya, and Uganda and cultural performances. Kids’ entertainment will be provided as well.

Holi Hai: Beach Holi Festival

When & Where: Mar 13 (2pm onwards), Murwab Resort, Sealine.

Fees: QAR 30 & 35

About: a fun afternoon with vibrant colors, foot-stomping Bollywood music, delicious food and more. An outdoor event happening on the beach. Many attractions include: a DJ, kids’ play area, Dhol performance, face painting, a variety of food stalls & many more surprises.

TIME FOR SOME ART

Huguette Caland exhibition

When & Where: starting from Mar 24, Mathaf (Arab Museum of Modern Art).

Fees: free for the residents & children below 16.

About: the first museum exhibition of Lebanese artist Huguette Caland’s work in Qatar, celebrating an artist defined by her uncompromising perspective on art and life.

Yto Barrada exhibition

When & Where: Mar 24-27, Mathaf (Arab Museum of Modern Art).

Fees: free for the residents & children below 16.

About: the first solo exhibition in the Gulf region of the remarkably varied and conceptually challenging work of Barrada (b. 1971) in photography, video, sculpture, and installation made between 2009-2019.

LET’S EAT!

Biryab – Biryani & Kebab festival

When & Where: Feb 26 – Mar 7, Al Bidda Park South.

Fees: you pay for what you eat. 🙂

About: many varieties of biryani cooked by over 30 local restaurants. Also: live cooking of kebabs, live music & activities for families.

Thai Culture & Food Festival 2020

When & Where: Mar 6 (10am-5pm), Royal Thai Embassy.

Fees: FREE!

About: delicious Thai food, as well as many other activities, such as: handicraft workshop, massage, lucky draw, and cultural performances.

STAY HEALTHY

Basic First-Aid Workshop

When & Where: Mar 12 (2pm-3pm), Patient and Family Education Center of Sidra Medicine.

Fees: FREE!

About: a workshop held in English, focusing on first-aid for children.

Kizomba Workshop with Helio Santos

When & Where: Mar 21-22, Music & Arts Atelier, Doha.

Fees: QAR 500 (for a package).

About: A beginner-intermediate workshop by a legendary kizomba artist. Pre-registration and payment are required in order to book a spot (registration@atelierqatar.com or WhatsApp 33003839).

LEAVE YOUR KIDS AT HOME…

TANGO DESIRE Rhythm of the Night

When & Where: Mar 26 (8:30pm), Intercontinental Doha – the City.

Fees: QAR 250 (regular), QAR 350 (VIP), book HERE. Ticket price includes a welcome drink & canapes.

About: a live dance show by world-class Argentinian tango performers. It’s the first such show in the Middle East. Please consider the age restriction: 18 and over.

Rockaway Beach

When & Where: Mar 6 (4pm-12am), Oyster Bay & Bar @ St. Regis Hotel.

Fees: QAR 130

About: a great live music event with 9 bands performing. Outdoor event. Please consider the age restriction: 21 and over.

The Michael Jackson Experience

When & Where: Mar 13 (8pm-11pm), QNCC.

Fees: QAR 399 – QAR 1000 (tickets available HERE).

About: it’s a live tribute show to the King of Pop, performed by Sergio Cortes.
