Meet Joanna

Meet Joanna

I’m Joanna, an expat from Poland, who over 8 years ago made a spontaneous (and brave, according to my family) decision to move to Qatar.

Travel has always been a passion of mine and I was looking forward to incorporating that passion into our family life. However, I quickly discovered that visiting new places with a growing family when you’re in your 30s is so much different from Couchsurfing in random countries a decade ago. First trips left me feeling confused and unsure of how to make the best of our future travels. And even though the internet is full of advice and recommendations for a family vacation, I wasn’t able to find a comprehensive source that would suit our needs.

I then decided to document our travels, as well as various travel-related topics in a way that will hopefully prove useful to parents whose circumstances are similar to ours. That’s how the idea of Mama in Transit was born.

As the idea evolved and took shape, at some point I decided to spice things up a little and include other lifestyle bits in the blog: book reviews, recipes for yummy food, productivity tips… you name it!

On the other hand, I always consult any reviews of travel-related tech gear with my husband. He’s the Ultimate Tech Geek and airport security scanner officers’ worst nightmare, always making sure to have at least half of our carry-on luggage stuffed with technology.

As a final (and a very logical) step in the evolution of my blog, I started to write more about family life in Qatar in general. My aim is to help other expats make Qatar their home away from home.

I would love for you to hang around! Please feel free to email me anytime at joanna@mamaintransit.com. You can also find me on Instagram & Facebook.
